I am the sky. Everything else is the weather Fiberglass, varnish and pigment 2mx1m Beauty is a visual scene that inspires a sense of wonder. This describes nature, people and things that are visually appealing. I remember sitting on a Boulder in the sunshine next to a river peering into the water to watch the flow of water and then I take my fingers and gently caress tracing my fingers across the top of the water just breaking the surface and I take notice to feel the coolness of the water.
Humans have an Innate sense of aesthetics that typically includes the concept of Beauty. As in the example for our appreciation of nature. Perceptions of beauty are also influenced by culture such as traditions, media, advertising, fashion, music, art, film, and shared experiences. Subcultures can embrace their own precepts of beauty that aren’t shared by traditional cultures. Humans have the capacity to think independently and have their own unique feelings and ideas about beauty. As with all things, beauty is impermanent. As such, beauty can occur at a point in time and quickly fade away. For example, the blooming of cherry trees in the Spring where these delicate blossoms are easily swept away in the wind. Beauty that is overly perfect can be negatively perceived as characterless or artificial. Attractive imperfections make things more beautiful by giving them character or uniqueness making them seemingly more interesting. Beauty is much simulated and benefits from authenticity. For example, accepting the aging process and finding beauty in it. Likewise, the ability to be yourself in a world that is often superficial can be beautiful. Beauty stands out and is often based on some sense of originality and style. Balance is the sense that both sides of something are equal. It is incorrect to think that beauty is based on symmetry when it is actually based on balance. Balance can be achieved with asymmetry and this tends to be more visually commanding. Humans find color to be visually stimulating such that it is an essential element of beauty. For this reason, a black and white photograph may be stylish but doesn’t convey the beauty of the world as well as a color photo or colorful painting. In a photograph, beauty is entirely visual. In reality, it is a result of the total presence of the entity. For example, the personal presence of a person can make them more beautiful. Beauty is primarily used to describe visual aesthetics. However it can be used in an analogous way to describe emotions, character traits, experiences and non-visual expression such as music. As beauty is an awe-inspiring emotion it often involves some element of mystery. This is particularly true of creative works such as painting, photography, and film where it is possible to make things mysterious. Nature and people can also inspire a sense of mysterious beauty. Beauty can be a result of creative expression such as fashion, performance art, art, landscaping and any other type of visual or non- visual creativity. Elegance is a beautiful refinement and sophistication. This isn’t a requirement for beauty as beauty can be fully uncultivated. However, elegance can be considered a type of beauty. Cuteness is a visually appealing scene that inspires a desire to protect. For example, a cute animal that you feel like hugging. Beauty is more fearsome than cuteness and is more likely to trigger humility than protective instincts. Beauty stems from strengths where cuteness stems from vulnerability. We are shaped by our thoughts. We become what we think if the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves. Beauty is a privilege of the human condition. The Sun. Fiberglass varnish and pigment. 8’x3’ and The Winds. Wood panel, varnish and pigment. 30”x30” / 20”X20”. As a symbol, the wind almost always has an effect on the other symbols. Positive or negative, depending on the situation. This is consistent with the way it works in nature. The first thing we notice is that Wind can’t be controlled. It is ever changing. A strong wind can be a powerful antagonist. What do you do if you are faced with adversity? Always remember that the wind can pull the waves apart. But, the oneness of the sea will pull them back together. Unity. The wind effects everything in the garden. But, it doesn’t effect the sky. So, the sun, moon and the stars are all independent of the wind. The sun is the only eternal unchanging symbol of the sky. Therein lies the analogy. No matter what the wind does to you, stay focused on the Sun. As you probably know, the Sun symbolizes the word of God. I am the sky. Everything else is the weather. www.studiotalyne.com

This past week I participated in a chat room on Clubhouse about my Offgrid solar powered home and art studio in the mountains of southern Colorado. The talk was about how to build a sustainable environment, reuse recycle repurpose, challenges and successes about Offgrid construction, the joys and inspirational opportunities living in Nature, and possible ways to earn passive income. We had a great time! All very fun and informative tidbits to share with friends who are interested in developing a relationship with Nature and Offgrid construction opportunities. During the discussion the topic of challenges and successes arose. 🔥🔥🔥🔥We spoke about many interesting things including: powering my studio using a forklift battery; to water sources and well digging; to where to source construction materials; to the ebb and flow of living Rural surrounded by Nature. ⭐️⭐️⭐️Fantastic news ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am so excited to share a tidbit with you all about the glass we tracked down and reused. It took us over 4 years to find all the glass for the grand windows in my studio! ✅. I am so thrilled to share the great news✅ 💥💥💥 Finally the last piece of glass has been secured and installed...💥💥💥 My husband located it in a glass warehouse in Denver. A 3 hour drive north. It is a sheet of 3/4” glass from a sliding glass door taken out of a hotel renovation. He had to take apart the door to retrieve the sheet. Finding The correct size was a real challenge. In the 3 skylights and 9 windows We reused glass from French doors and slider doors. We have secured the glass from 5 different construction sites or glass warehouses throughout Colorado. The challenge- The standard size of a slider door changed during the 80s to a small dimension. We have been hunting for the larger pre-80s glass. 💥💥💥💥Celebrate with me. We found it! The final sheet has been found! And it is installed! Which means that the interior construction for all the large windows is done! 💯💯💯💯 enjoy the installation images. I am baking a chocolate cake today to celebrate 🎉 Shu was the god of the Air, Wind, and Skies. The name Shu meant emptiness or he who rises up. The Greeks associated Shu With the Greek titan, Atlas, as both gods were assigned the duty of holding up the skies. Shu was predominately associated with fog, clouds, and the wind. According to some accounts, Shu plays a significant role in the creation of light and dark, good and evil. He separated Nut (sky goddess) and Geb (earth god), to formulate boundaries between the sky and earth. Without this division, physical life and growth wouldn’t have been possible on planet earth. Through this demarcation, a border was also established between the bright realm of living, and the dark world of the dead. As an illuminator of darkness, and a God of light, Shu Was closely associated with the sun God, Ra.

fiberglass, varnish pigment and steel 8’x15’ The sunrise is amazing. I’m watching the mornings from 5-6am. Flocks of birds punctuate the morning Sunrise break. On view is side one of the two-sided piece. Brilliant reds are the best to absorb during the early mornings. Colors shape The way we interact with the world around us. The psychological Association with certain colors makes us feel and act a certain way. We associate negative and positive feelings with certain colors, which shapes how we view the world. So, it makes sense that the energetic and spiritual realm also associate meaning to colors according to its vibration. So, what does the color red mean spiritually? The spiritual representation of red is power, energy, vitality, dominance, action, assertion, creation, survival and passion. When a spiritual sign appears in your life that is red, it usually represents that you are ready to take action on a new goal or project that you have been putting off. The spiritual message is “have courage to take action, and will take care of the rest.” The spiritual realm loves to give signs in the form of colors and symbols, and red is a color that they love to play with. Red admits a vibration that makes you want to take action or makes you feel powerful. It catches the eye and makes you pay attention. Spirit loves the color red because you notice it and are more likely to take action. The color red is the longest on the visible light spectrum, and because it is the most visible to our eye that means it is strongest in the physical Realm. Because it is so physical, it is actually the most difficult energy for the spiritual realm to rest. This is why spirit will send symbols with red attached to objects with a high spiritual vibration. The color red is trying to pull you into the present moment and get out of your head, where we are often thinking of the past or the future. We cannot take action on things that have happened in the past, and we cannot live in the future. The only time we have total control over our lives is when we are fully living in the present moment. Red is also a color that can give you the feeling of safety and security in your environment. It is the color of the root chakra, which makes us feel grounded in our realities. If you are seeing a lot of red after a period of environmental change, it may be a sign that things are happening below the surface to build a secure foundation up once again. Peach Orchard (side 2)
Fiberglass, varnish and pigment 2mx1m The Peach Blossom Spring was a fable written by Tao Yuanming in 421 about a chance discovery of an ethereal utopia where the people lead an ideal existence in harmony with nature unaware of the outside world for centuries. Tao Yuanming Lived during a time of political instability and national disunity. The story describes how a fisherman haphazardly sailed into a stream in a forest made up entirely of Blossoming peach tree‘s, where even the ground was covered by peach petals. When he reached the end of the stream he found a grotto. Though narrow at first he was able to squeeze through and the passage eventually reached a hidden village. The villagers were surprised to see him, but we’re kind and friendly. They explained that her ancestors escaped to this place during the civil unrest of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), And they themselves have not left since or had contact with anyone from the outside. As a result, they had heard nothing of subsequent changes in political regimes. The fisherman was warmly received by the hospitable villagers and stayed for over a week upon leaving he was informed that it was worthless to reveal this experience to the outside world. However, he marked his route on his way out with signs and later divulge the existence of this idyllic haven to others. They tried to find it repeatedly but in vain. Peach Orchard (side 1 and 2) Fiberglass, varnish, and pigment Curator: Gail Levin Thank you! There’s a lot to do as an artist. Today is a beautiful day and there’s wood to be cut and trees to trim. This time of year the scrub oak needs to be cut down and the dead branches trimmed and debris hauled away. I am having a blast with the chainsaw and the small branches. It is starting to smell like spring in the air. The birds are starting to return. March is a great time of year in Southern Colorado. We are powering 9,000 square feet with the sunshine- including our home, Studio T’Alyne, and various garages and out buildings. We are using Iron Edison batteries as the main storage supply with the additional fork lift battery setup for the studio. We are totally Offgrid and Zero Emissions. It is amazing to live in a Quiet peaceful Tranquil environment. Elevation is 6,800 feet with incredible views! Enjoy.
