Taking a small break from construction to enjoy the view. I can’t wait to unpack my boxes and get the studio setup for working. The images I posted today are from the large scale wall I built 10 years ago.
Over the river over and through the woods fiberglass, varnish, pigment and welding steel. 8’x15’ Reminiscent of the sliding walls in Zen temples. I painted and built a large scale prototype. It’s 8 foot tall and 15foot in length. There are 4 sliding panels or doors that are hung from an overhead beam. The scene and colors are inspired from the spring time when the light and colors shift from winter to spring in northern Michigan. The action of moving the panels and walking through is reminiscent of a visit to the woods. My favorite park for viewing the spring awakening is Amen Park , Michigan. There one can find an abundance of wild flowers and blossoming trees from mid April to May. Thanks to my friend Betsy for the glamorshot. Note- this piece will be a part of the first installation project upcoming! Stay tuned for more excellent news.
