The subway tile around the work sink is looking magnificent. As well the tile around the bathroom sink is going to be wonderful and white. The windows are all trimmed and caulked in place. I am working on priming them. Soon the interior is done! Cleaning the construction mess off the floor should be underway in the next week or so. Currently the studio is receiving power by way of a long extension cord plugged into the big house. It’s a seriously long extension cord! Stay tuned for the exterior setup....

Taking a small break from construction to enjoy the view. I can’t wait to unpack my boxes and get the studio setup for working. The images I posted today are from the large scale wall I built 10 years ago.
Over the river over and through the woods fiberglass, varnish, pigment and welding steel. 8’x15’ Reminiscent of the sliding walls in Zen temples. I painted and built a large scale prototype. It’s 8 foot tall and 15foot in length. There are 4 sliding panels or doors that are hung from an overhead beam. The scene and colors are inspired from the spring time when the light and colors shift from winter to spring in northern Michigan. The action of moving the panels and walking through is reminiscent of a visit to the woods. My favorite park for viewing the spring awakening is Amen Park , Michigan. There one can find an abundance of wild flowers and blossoming trees from mid April to May. Thanks to my friend Betsy for the glamorshot. Note- this piece will be a part of the first installation project upcoming! Stay tuned for more excellent news. wow. I never thought that I could be considered courageous for building my studio in a rural setting. What a great compliment from @vandyker! We are having such a nice time here. Walter, the mountain lion loves to hike the trails nearby. And the three little bears tumbling and giggling are so cute. The flocks of turkeys, blue birds, crows, and other birds are abundant. Bunny the Cottontail loves to hop to and nibble on the grassy areas. Occasionally we see a magestic bald eagle. Of course the red tail hawks are always on the hunt. Our greenhouse has a nice herd of lizards and frogs. Life is slow here. It’s finally Time to rejuvenate and be at peace. Eternally grateful for this amazing life.
Friends from all over the world showing their love and support! This has been a long haul. We really appreciate the words of encouragement. Thank you @mslauraarmenta from Michigan.
We are ripping the baseboard trim and priming. We just finished caulking in all 14 windows. 8 tubes of caulk sealed the interior trim. It’s been snowing a lot lately so the roads are too muddy for walking. Nice beautiful sunny day for warming up the studio and drying up the road.
Harry is hanging 4 LED lights at the four corners of the studio. T’Alyne is caulking the windows and priming the wood trim on all the windows and doors.Great sunny day for the solar heat gain through the south windows.
Today is a beautiful sunny winter day in the mountains. Windy but warm. Just the other side of the mountain range is a snow storm. It’s nice inside the studio for getting the details done. We are working on the counter top and back splash of the work sinks.
Thank you from the mountain top! Rememberng the help we had pushing up this wall! The video clip on YouTube is another inspirational moment during the construction. Click to view. its amazing and so nice to receive positive feedback from viewers, Thank you @busybecca for sharing the news and your supportive message. We love hear from you!
We are mindful of our budget at every moment. Harry is ripping down the 4x8 sheets for the window trim.
We have the studio all wired. Plumbing is complete with 3 work sinks. Bathroom sink and toilet plumbing are completely done.
We are so lucky we have a friend with a big trailer! It took the full trailer plus a load in the back of the pickup. Drive time was two hours to Home Depot for pickup and return of materials. R-19 in the walls and ceiling. This will help keep the building and art supplies warm in the winter. Our planned heat source is going to be either solar powered electric base board or solar hot water baseboard.
